Spring Storage Checks Before the Weather Changes

Spring changes how a home works. Heavy coats move out of daily use, lighter layers return, outdoor items reappear, and cleaning supplies get used differently. A short storage check makes the change less messy.
Review entryway items
Start where seasonal change shows up first: the entryway. Remove winter items that are no longer used daily. Keep one or two transitional pieces if the weather still changes often.
Clean or dry items before storing them. Storing damp or dirty gear creates problems later.
Check shoes and bags
Spring often brings different shoes, sports bags, gardening items, or outdoor totes. Give these items a clear place before they start landing on the floor.
If winter shoes are staying out, move them away from the easiest daily access.
Rotate linens lightly
Heavy blankets, flannel sheets, and extra throws may need to move to seasonal storage. Do not store every warm item too early. Keep one accessible layer for cold nights.
Label seasonal bedding so it is easy to find when the weather shifts again.
Look at cleaning supplies
Spring cleaning does not require a huge supply shelf. Check what is already available before buying more. Remove empty bottles, combine duplicates when safe and appropriate, and keep active supplies easy to reach.
Make a repair list
Notice what needs attention: broken umbrellas, missing gloves, damaged bins, torn bags, or outdoor items that need cleaning. A short repair list prevents these items from sitting in storage for another year.
